Prison time after 23rd drunk driving conviction

A Nova Scotia man with 22 convictions for impaired driving was sentenced Friday to 8.5 years in prison for his 23rd.

In addition to the impaired charge, Terry Naugle, 53, had also pleaded guilty in October to leaving the scene of an accident and driving while prohibited.

The crash occurred on March 8, 2009, when Naugle’s car crashed into an SUV that was parked on the side of a highway near Enfield, N.S., because it had run out of gas.

Naugle is prohibited from ever driving again and must submit a DNA sample.

With credit for time served, Naugle is to serve another six years and nine month.
